Human Resource Generalist – Tempe, AZ

With limited supervision, provides professional-level full service HR support to the organization to drive a culture that enables the achievement of business objectives. This includes driving a broad range of core HR functions and processes e.g., employee relations, employee development, employee engagement, talent acquisition, benefits administration, safety, compensation, performance management and employment compliance.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provides ongoing support to managers with employee relations, counseling, employee development and corrective action issues. Provides guidance to managers in preparing performance improvement plans, disciplinary action, and terminations. This includes conducting internal investigations in conjunction with the appropriate resources
  • Drives HR core processes to include performance management, employee engagement, change management, succession planning, salary planning and compensation administration
  • Supports HR leadership in the development, communication and implementation of programs that drive organizational culture and strategically maximizes attraction, recruitment and retention efforts
  • Maintains a current knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and takes action to ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
  • Works through internal and external subject matter experts to design, develop and implement sustainable training and development programs for all levels throughout the organization that support the achievement of business objectives
  • Administers health, welfare and retirement plans. This may include but is not limited to fostering relationships with carriers, arranging for the distribution of materials from carriers, assisting with and communicating changes to employees, and coordinating meetings
  • Writes, revises, edits and proofreads company policies & procedures and related documents as needed
  • Works with managers to conduct job evaluations and analyses

Required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the role include the following:


Education, Work Experience or Related Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources is preferred
  • Knowledge or general business administration as normally obtained through the completion of a degree in business administration is required
  • A PHR is preferred
  • A minimum of three years professional level HR Generalist experience. Experience in a multi-site, multi-state organization is preferred
  • Proven successful experience in coaching, interviewing and selection, performance management and training
  • Knowledge of and proven experience administering a broad range of HR functions, programs and practices
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating organizational change and fostering a link between business objectives and human resources activities

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • A strong knowledge and understanding of employment law is required
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast pace entrepreneurial environment
  • The ability to create and maintain a positive employee relations environment throughout complex and changing situations
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and organizational skills
  • A basic understanding of the operations of the durable medical equipment industry and hospice industry is preferred
