Human Resources Assistant – Tempe, AZ

With general supervision, provides support and assistance in the administration of sustainable HR programs to drive business results, nourish a desired culture and meet employment compliance and operational obligations. This role may provide some clerical and administrative support to the executive team.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Participates in recruitment and staffing efforts including administering the end to end approval and posting process, assisting with ad placements, conducting screening interviewing, coordinating temporary resources and meeting records and retention requirements.
  • Processes and maintains Human Resources Information System records and compiles reports from the database as requested.
  • Supports the administration of benefits by processing new enrollments, changes, terminations and acting as the COBRA administrator. Reports on benefits utilization and assists with required benefits analytics. Acts as a direct resource for employees to ensure accurate information is accessible and plan provisions are communicated.
  • Provides support and assistance with efforts to audit, modify and implement HR programs and processes to ensure the organization is compliant with state and federal employment regulations.
  • Ensures the Company meets HR record and retention obligations by processing and maintaining hard copy and electronic employee records and HR records.
  • Acts as a key resource and support to managers to ensure that HR needs and objectives are satisfied. This includes ensuring employee records (tests, training, etc.) are captured and updated and business requirements e.g., compliance posters are captured and updated.
  • Supports the safety program and related efforts by researching, capturing and processing related information required for an effective safety program.
  • Supports the design, delivery and development of organizational training and development programs.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the role include the following:


Education, Work Experience or Related Experience:

  • Knowledge of general business administration as normally obtained through 1-2 years of college level business courses. Experience may substitute for formal education to obtain a general knowledge of business administration
  • One to two years’ experience working in and supporting an HR environment in which the incumbent has exposure to employee records, benefit programs, staffing and recruitment programs etc.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated prior knowledge of HR principles and practices is required. Prior experience with an HRIS database is preferred
  • Effective oral and written communications skills and interpersonal skills are required
  • The ability to work effectively and relate well with others at all levels internally and individuals external to the Company. The ability to exhibit professionalism, inspire respect and credibility and deal with others to maintain constructive working relationships is required
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information is required.
  • Knowledge of hospice, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, managed care or other pertinent health care services industry experience preferred but not required
  • The ability to be proactive and self-directed utilizing good time management, decision-making, and organization skills is required. Incumbents must be able to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast pace entrepreneurial environment
