Business Intelligence Analyst – Tempe, AZ

With moderate supervision, this position provides key support in the consideration, assessment and execution of strategic initiatives by maintaining, modifying and querying multiple databases to provide standard and customized reports and performing analyses of moderate complexity.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • With moderate supervision, this position designs and develops moderately complex reporting infrastructure utilizing SQL technologies (SSRS, SSIS).
  • Conducts SQL queries and works with other data extraction, reporting and analytic tools to develop management reports.
  • Collaborates with technical resources and functional business managers to gather and analyze data and data requirements.
  • Develops and maintains multi-department reporting based on key performance indicators and a clear understanding of operational objectives. Translates strategic business logic into technical report requirements and schema design.
  • Establishes manual and automated production processes for the collection and maintenance of data on an ongoing basis
  • Performs and completes ad-hoc reporting requests of moderate complexity as needed.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the role include the following:

Education, Work Experience or Related Experience:

  • Knowledge of computer science, economics or business required to provide key reporting support as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Economics, Business or closely related field of study.
  • The knowledge, skill and ability to maintain, modify and query multiple databases as described as normally obtained through 3 – 5 years’ experience applying data mining, data warehousing, and OLAP functionality techniques.
  • Experience should include coding with T-SQL, PL/SQL, MS Access, data normalization and data de-normalization.
  • Experience with OLAP reporting tools, Crystal Reports or any other enterprise level business analytics software is also required.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • The ability to interact effectively with all levels of stakeholders throughout the organization is required. Good communication skills and a professional demeanor are essential.
  • Knowledge and ability with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle including but not limited to table creation, stored procedure development, data transformation services, job scheduler, and performance tuning is required. Working knowledge and proficiency with SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Integration Services is also required.
  • The ability to translate strategic business logic into technical report requirements and schema design is required.
  • Good analytical skills and an attention to detail are required to performing reporting and analysis functions as described.
  • The ability to act on own initiative with minimal supervision is required. The ability to remain focused and produce outputs while under the pressure of time constraints is also required.
  • Proficiency with business and communications software (preferably Word, Excel, PowerPoint, common Windows operating systems, and Outlook) is required.
  • A strong, technical knowledge and understanding of OLAP reporting tools, Crystal Reports and enterprise levels business analytics software is required.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow standard operating procedures with regard to patient data to ensure compliance with HIPAA is required

Physical Requirements and Demands:

  • Work requires normal range of hearing and eyesight. Incumbent must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment and operate a keyboard and other office equipment. The ability to perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day and function in an environment with constant interruptions is required. At times, incumbents are subject to sitting for prolonged periods. Infrequently, incumbent must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 10 lbs. Incumbent may experience increased levels of stress during periods of increased activity and with work entailing multiple deadlines.
